January 2008
I finally got the bus over to
THE WAGEN
Kevin and George are going to get the rest
of the metal work done.
Right away Kevin removed the old
headlight buckets from the old front clip
Then Kev fit the old buckets to the new clip
that was donated by
E.I.S. He also shaved
the "fried eggs" turn signals
Then the whole clip was removed with a
plasma cutter to give Jim from
Sand Freak
access to install the cage work in and
around the front end
These are the finished buckets.
Kevin got them to fit great.
Kevin made the hump out of one piece of
metal. Fits like a glove
Overall look is mucho beuno.
Thanks to Kevin and George at
THE
WAGEN
for their hard work. You da poo.
A day later and Kevin made the door fit with a
couple of filler panels. Looks more barndoorish.
With some barndoor taillights it will look good
A decision was made to make the back window
smaller. The large back winow just looked wrong.
I gave Kevin a donor door and he went to work
Chris getting metal shavings in his grill. It
takes a real man to cut up vintage tin.
All work performed at
The Wagen
From inside you can see how Chris had to
remove the fresh air box. Maybe I'll get a
BEHR scoop from Gerson.
Chris worked his magic and made the metal
bend over to the desired shape. The yellow
pieces are donors from the old door.
Next was the removal of the fresh air vent
overhang.
Chris Clark came over to lend a
hand. He had already done one. Hacker.
Rain gutter straight as an arrow. Body done
for now. The bus gets moved next door to
Sand Freak for the roll cage. End of January
Go ahead and contact The Wagen or Chris
Clark
to schedule your bus lobatamy.
Don't be scared. "F" the purists.
Here's the finished product. Not too much
filler needed to make it right. I think every
bus needs this done to it.
Counter
At this point I'm pooing my pants cause it
looks like it will never fit right. Get out the
hammer, dolly, and welder.
